Task
The know-how of numerous domestic and foreign experts in transport demand modeling was pooled for the development of the Austrian Transport Model (VMÖ).
The consortium Planum, yverkehrsplanung and Joanneum Research developed the passenger transport model.
The model is based on the comprehensive household survey Austria on the Move and the collection of numerous socio-demographic data.
Work steps
The following steps were implemented:
- Determination of tours on the basis of the household survey,
- Identification of incomplete or incorrect data,
- Localization of the tours and linking with the transport districts of the model,
- Parameter estimation of the tour frequency models,
- Parameter estimation for a combined destination/transport mode and time choice model for the main destinations,
- Parameter estimation of the route frequency to the secondary destinations,
- Parameter estimation of the target selection for the secondary targets,
- Implementation of the model,
- Validation and calibration of the model
- Implementation of various special models.
Results
The result is a calibrated passenger demand model which, in combination with the other sub-models, such as the network model and freight transport model, forms the Austrian transport model.
