Integrated transport model for the Halle (Saale) region

Task

yverkehrsplanung GmbH has created a multimodal transport model as the basis for the scenario study
as part of the transport development plan for the city of Halle (Saale).

Work steps

The following steps were implemented

  • Specification of the model,
  • Preparation of behavioral data,
  • GIS-based structural data preparation,
  • Transport demand modeling.
  • traffic assignment PrT and PuT,
  • Integration of supra-regional traffic flows from higher-level traffic models,
  • Model calibration
  • Impact assessment of several scenarios for the development of urban structure, traffic behavior and network development,
  • Implementation of a link to the traffic management system.

Results

The integrated transport model is multimodal provides the following results for all scenarios considered:

  • Traffic volume by routes, differentiated by means of transport, groups of people and activities,
  • Domestic, source, destination and through traffic,
  • Travel distances by means of transportation.
  • Development of vehicle traffic volumes and public transport user numbers.

The traffic model is characterized by a high spatial and temporal resolution. In addition to the usual calculations of traffic demand for working days (Monday – Friday), it is also able to realistically simulate the greatly differing mobility on Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to providing traffic data for the traffic situation system and environmental studies (noise, pollutant emissions), the traffic model also serves as a basis for detailed studies, mobility concepts, etc.
